Beginnings
It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. International Women's Group Warsaw began its life in 1979 when two Dutch ladies decided to get together and begin a group for diplomats, airline workers as well as French institute and British council employees. At this time, interactions between Polish nationals and 'foreign' workers were limited.
In the 1980's, meetings were held in the US embassy’s Eagle Club, or at an ambassadors residence. Newsletters were typed, copied and delivered by hand by their area representatives who also held monthly coffee meetings in their homes to help members to adjust to living here.
Since our founding in the late 1970's, life has changed significantly and we have been proud to witness how our activities have benefitted our immediate community as well as our wider community.
